The Armstrong-Lepeska Science Marketing Scholarship, sponsored by isoSolutions, has been awarded to two more students. This scholarship is granted to a student at Langara College in Vancouver.  To highlight the importance of marketing and sales of high-technology, scientifically-intensive products, the scholarship awards a student in a scientific discipline who completes a course in Marketing.
The Armstrong-Lepeska Science Marketing Scholarship honors Brian Armstrong and Will Lepeska, who were pioneers in the new field of nuclear medicine and who, as scientists, focused their efforts on the marketing and sales of medical products.  They played a critical role in bringing medical developments from the laboratory to the public and to common usage.
One of the recipients is Ms. Rachel Abma.  She grew up in Abbotsford and graduated from the Mennonite Educational Institute School, then moved to Vancouver to explore career paths.  Rachel worked in the restaurant industry, as a manager at two large restaurants which equipped and encouraged her to explore business as a career.  She has been going to Langara for the past 2 years, testing the waters of the marketing and business world, and has been intrigued by international business, marketing, and human geography while honing her writing and technical business skills.  During her three semesters at Langara, Rachel studied general sciences, human geography, development and change in Asia Pacific, sociology, English, business and presentation skills.   Rachel plans to finish her diploma and hopes to complete her MBA in the next few years.
Rachel is currently on a one-month intensive field study program in Italy.  It covers two geography courses (exploring culture and tourism as well as a physical landscape aspect) and an English course that involves writing a travel blog.
