isoSolutions Mourns Loss of a Partner and Friend

We regret to announce that Dr. Alexander Susan has passed away peacefully at the age of 83 in Columbia, Missouri. In 2001, Alex Susan and David Drummond, the principal of isoSolutions, formed a joint company – Alpha IICH Inc. – to develop a supply of alpha emitting radionuclides to researchers for therapeutic applications. Over the years, Alex and David pursued many business opportunities together, merging their international networks of contacts for mutual benefit. Alex became a friend as well as a loyal partner. He will be missed.

Following is the obituary of Alexander Susan. May he rest in peace.

Obituary for Alexander C. Susan

Dr. Alexander C. Susan, 83, of Columbia [Missouri] passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Boone Hospital. He was born on September 25, 1933 in Cluj, Romania, the son of Dr. Bartholomew and Gabriella Susan, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married to Mihaela Susan, who also preceded him in death.

Dr. Susan received a Master’s Degree in chemical engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest and a Ph.D. from the University of Moscow. He defected from Romania to the United States in 1968. Before founding the International Isotope Society in 1986 and the International Isotope Clearing House Inc. in 1991, Dr. Susan worked as a research chemist at various corporations, including Mallinckrodt, Sandoz Inc. and Novartis International AG.

Dr. Susan loved all forms of classical music and was a patron of the Kansas City Symphony, as well as a supporter of and mentor to many young musicians. Some people would say that the best music could be heard coming from his home in Leawood, Kansas. He was an avid collector of art and a gourmet cook as well.

He is survived by: one son, Bogdan and wife Amy; and grandchildren Rocco and Brinkley. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his beloved German Shorthaired Pointers, Duke and Lucky.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Columbia, Missouri. Mass of Christian Burial will follow with Monsignor Flanagan celebrating. Inurnment will immediately follow at Columbia Cemetery.
